About Us

BattGenie is a rapidly growing startup backed by reputed cleantech Venture Capital firms. Our software and solutions for lithium-ion battery management systems enable longer life and faster charging for batteries for different battery applications. We have demonstrated >100% improvement in battery cycle life and a 40% reduction in battery charge times compared to the standard battery charging methods.

Role

We have openings for full time and part-time Embedded Software Engineers to work on a range of microcontroller platforms for porting and validating our battery model algorithms for various Battery Management System applications. The workplace is located on the main campus of UT Austin.

Responsibilities:

· Establish and test communication across multiple battery management systems components including power supply, fuel gauges, charging ICs and microcontrollers using CANBUS, I2C, SMBus or SPI protocols.

· Develop Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop testing architectures.

· Familiarity with Fixed-point calculation arithmetic.

· Familiarity with communication protocols including CANBUS, I2C, SMBus, SPI and TCP/IP.

· Demonstrated experience of C, C++, MATLAB, JULIA and / or Python.

· Clearly document work in detailed technical memos, laboratory notebooks, milestone reports, and journal articles and present at technical conferences

Requirements:

· MS in Mechanical, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical/Chemistry, Materials Science, Aerospace, Applied Mathematics, or related field.

· >3 Years industrial experience working on embedded systems.

· Deep knowledge of embedded systems and microcontroller platforms.

· Experience of multiple Integrated Development Environments (IDEs).

· Experience in communication protocols including CANBUS, I2C, SMBus, SPI and TCP/IP.

· Demonstrates an aptitude for independent and creative thinking and capability of solving complex problems utilizing innovative approaches.

· Self-motivated and a team player.

· Minimum weekly commitment for parttime: 20 hours or more.
