The successful candidate will be tasked with helping to ensure accountability through accurate record-keeping and reporting. Accounting assistant will provide administrative and general bookkeeping/accounting support to the Finance department. This role will be part-time/contract, with an estimated time commitment of 10-20 hours per week. This position is remote and can be based in the US or Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the CFO & Controller with daily tasks and projects
  • Serve as the team liaison for finance and payroll questions
  • Assist with the processing and posting of the daily accounts payable and weekly payment schedules
  • Reconcile invoices and receipts on the company credit card, including following up with employees and attaching receipts
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including but not limited to reconciling the bank statement, capital asset ledger, prepaid schedules, and other schedules as required
  • General accounting functions, including accounts maintenance, creating and posting journal entries, and reconciling accounts
  • Support the monthly, semi-monthly, and bi-weekly payroll process and reconciliation
  • Support annual year-end audit process
  • Manage and maintain the records for Accounts Payable/Receivable/Expense Reports/Credit Cards Interact and respond to/with Vendor and Customer requests
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or a related field)
  • 1-3 years of work experience in accounting/finance, billing, and accounts payable
  • Proficient in Excel, with preferred (not required) experience with Netsuite, Expensify
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping accounts payable/receivable and payroll processing
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to quality and excellent follow-through skills
  • Proven ability to work in a virtual environment in a corporate setting
  • Self-motivated and resourceful with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple responsibilities simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities and tight deadlinesHighly entrepreneurial and self-motivated
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively within a distributed team
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday (5 days a week); hourly commitment varies per week
